I attended a lecture about Scott Mcpherson and the work he did. I don’t remember as much but I will try to note the basic things down which is art typically featured for VeeJaying, (Video Jammer). This was typically around clubs in the 90s and still continues now.
His work consists of graphic design, photography and typography.
The main theme I am recognising from this lecture is his ability to adapt and move into new directions with software and illustration techniques. He is currently working around self generated art. His current job is art director at Mac User Magazine, but has also done a lot of motion graphics for MTV and made trailers for Sony. Including Foo fighters and Borat which he was paid £4000 in a competition. He is quite keen on video mapping, which is essential illustrated/animated projections to sync with a real 3d construct.
Currently uses Unity, Cinema 4D and Unreal for his 3D animations. His typography work is what consists of his 2d art.
In terms of interactive art and illustration he has worked on 7 VR experiences with Amoeba Studio. One being a unique simulation of poetry, taking random physical words and allowing the player to build a sculpture/ tower out of them.
He also worked on an audio reactive piece at the barbican, which was created on cinema 4d using
I am not big on video codecs and coding in general, but it was nice to see the pieces he worked on. I just don’t think its for me.
