Stop-Motion to digital. (Stop motion's too time consuming)

I wanted to use stop motion for my sequence, using my rostrum camera stand is the prefered tool with cutouts. I do think though from looking at Sally Cruikshank, I want to seek out a more african inspired art style and colour scheme. The best I could consider is cutting out the centre of each cut out, giving a bold line to the design.
I realised this when it came to doing a leopard cut out, the design will be too inticrate to properly achieve by hand. So I am considering scanning and digitally editing it to get a better design. I will most likely use Adobe Illustrator.
