I do apologise. It seems that I had forgotten to make a post on this when I was doing the second animatic. I will post the second and the third animatics here soon.
This was something I wanted to explore in the project, animating paint splats.
This was of course inspired by the Sunbeam short by Paul Vester. I loved the way they drip and they made the more empty scenes pop, which I think would be good for this sequence.
I have animated two different paint splats, one being more minimal and another being more explosive and drippy. I animated them in after effects, the first frame scaling down from a large size and fading in with a gaussian blur. This gives the illusion that the first frame is a drop falling to which it splats on impact.
I haven’t completely settled on what’s the best place to put them but so far they look pretty good.
Note: I have discovered I can edit colours in after effects so I can get different paint splats. YAY!
