I am confident in my choice of song now.
It will be In Dreams by Ray Orbison.
I have bought and downloaded a copy from the google play store to use.
It does exceed the 2 minutes limit, with an extra 54 seconds so I will have to consider carefully on which section to potentially cut out.
I have imagined something very fantastical, romantic and surreal from the narrative this song brings. A man who goes to sleep and dreams of the love of his life, but when dawn comes she fades away and he is left alone.
Instant Inspiration/Reminders
IMAGINARIUM OF DR PARNASSUS
Long story short, this is a film directed by Terry Gilliam, who is most famous for his animation and design work on Monty Python. When he split off he delved a bit more into the fantastical world of satire, with visual feats such as Time bandits, Brazil and this film; The imaginarium of Doctor parnassus.

It's a game between an all powerful former monk and the devil himself over the soul of the monks daughter. This battle is fought in the imaginarium, a magical realm/travelling theatre in which whoever claims five souls wins the bet. Meanwhile a mysterious character known as Tony joins the theatre troupe and in turn tries to help Parnassus. This scene involves Tony trying to lure the first of the five souls to parnassus's side via seducing her, and in turn dancing with her.
The cgi isn't the most convincing but the imagery/imagination is great. It's very reminiscent of Alice in wonderland.
DESTINO This is an animated short I knew about way before I joined this course. It was originally going to be a collaboration between famed animation director Walt Disney and famed surrealist Salvador Dali, it was only in its conceptual art stage just before Disney called off the project due to artistic differences.
Regardless though, a version of the film released in 2003, animated by a newer generation with a passion to see the project made. I love the use of both traditional animation, cgi and a tiny bit of stop-motion to craft a strange yet beautiful love story. There are two links to the short and a good documentary about the projects development.

I have some interesting ideas of these 2 dimensional characters in a 3d space, The halfway point being a brief dance whilst flying in a city. I love this concept of romantic surrealism, the idea of a dream lover who is literally a dream in itself.
I also like the idea from destino of the shapeshifting, and the figure who melts away as the moon rises. Those are the surreal concepts that come to mind when I hear the song.
