Forest scene second draft improvements

Updated: Jan 16, 2019

One issue I had with the original animatic was the figure and the trees passing in front of the camera. I originally imposed the figure on top of the exported footage which obviously didn’t work, despite trying to compensate by making the figure fade in and out.

However, I decided to go back to improve the illusion of a 2D character in a 3D environment after seeing the default transparent background each of the Cinema 4D animations had. I re animated a midground layer without the trees passing in front of the camera, I also added a star background which I made in Adobe Illustrator and added in After effects. Unfortunately due to a long rendering time, I decided not to have it move with the midground.

I then moved the camera after rendering the scene and re animated it on trees somewhere else on the terrain, just on the edge.

So we wouldn’t see the terrain and I could animate it closer to the camera. This is where the figure comes in.

I placed it in between the already exported version of the midground and the yet to be rendered foreground trees.

After one more export, I have to say I am happy with the results. This probably means though I will have to think more on what to add to scenes in the future.

The background was made in Adobe Illustrator and then placed in the transparent background in Adobe After effects
