Research: St Peters house Library Trip+Books on Puppetry

I have been to the st peters house library again today. I have found some more books, this time more focused on puppetry. I was looking for inspiration as to the type of puppets suitable for my design and some elements I could lift from other cultures.

(Keep in mind, this is after the puppetry making process. I merely want to experiment and see what I can get out of these books.)

Because its it mandatory that I do as MUCH RESEARCH AS POSSIBLE OR I MIGHT JUST DIE!

I do joke of course, here are the 5 books I looked at-

Telling Tales: Fantasy and Fear in Contemporary Design by Gareth Williams

This discussed the impact on fantastical, hyper realistic design on contemporary art, décor and furniture.

Asian Puppets: Wall of the world

Exhibiting photos of the varying puppets from Asian cultures.

Puppets Masks and other performing objects- edited by John Bell

This was more of a deep analysis on the relevancy on puppetry and their relationship to theatre, actors and props. The writing was a little too sophisticated for me to understand.

Marrionnettes – by Kobler

I really liked this one as it showed different types of puppets, such as glove puppets rod puppets and string marionettes.

Asian Theatre Puppets: Creativity,Culture and Craftmanship by Ruizendal Wang

Another good source for potential reference in colour and design work. Could be good to get across an unsettling feel.

And here are the photos I have taken from said books.
