Research: Red Riding Hood/ Little Red Cap Dialogue

Updated: Mar 22, 2019

I was given the suggestion of lifting text from the original red riding hood story to use as dialogue for the wolf. I have a book of original grimms fairytales, so here is what I got…

The start of the story is on page 133. And as expected the story is simple although I will mention a few interesting aspects of the text,

1. the title in this edition is Little Red Cap as opposed Red Riding Hood

2. Its the huntsman that rescues red cap and the grandmother but its ultimately the grandmother and red cap that defeat the wolf at the end. He crawls away after being gutted and waits for the next day on top of the roof of grandmothers house. He plans to pounce on and eat them both once again, but the grandmother knows what he's up to. So on the next day the grandmother is cooking some sausage in a pan and asks red cap to dispose of the remaining water in the flower trough, the wolf is attracted by the smell, falls off the roof and drowns in the flower trough. Strange way to go after being gutted but maybe thats simple child logic.

Keywords: Tender, morsel, delicious, devour, delightful.

The dialogue is still very simple, so I am not certain if there is much material I can reference in a subtle manner with the animation.

I suppose with how the wolf speaks in a polite manner, it still works well with the character design I have done for my wolf with his bowler hat.

I could look into other wolf related fairy tales for reference another time.
