Un Autre Monde
The book, Autre Monde by Isidore Grandville depicts various different visions of the future or even alternate worlds. Some might even say its a precursor to contemporary science fiction. What attracted me to it was the surreal illustrations, how it exaggerated and shows off the expressionistic side of the human world. My favourites are these depictions of tall humans and short humans, which look very stretched or flattened to the point it looks uncanny and offputting. One other such idea was the fusions of various animals, like a lion with a rabbits head or a beetle with the head of a bird. This would later play into what I wanted to do in terms of revealing the rabbit character as a monster in the eyes of the audience. https://archive.org/details/unautremondetran00gran/page/160/mode/2up
